Our Trip To Leon:
My wife and I traveled in August 2007 to visit some brethren in Leon. Several churches in this area have turned away from error and are now striving for the right. I have displayed many photos of our memorable time there with these saints. Continue to pray that these brethren remain true to the Lord.

Baptisms and Restorations:

There were seven people who obeyed the gospel on this trip and two were restored to active service. We also held many Bible studies in the community that were well received. Be sure to view all of the images and thank God for all that He is doing among the churches in Nicaragua. Thank you for your support.

Quick Tour Photos 2007
From August 21st through the 29th, my wife and I made a trip with Ken Parrish to visit the churches that were located near Leon. Our goal for this trip was to canvas the communities with Bible studies and invitations as we had planned a 3 day gospel meeting near the end of the week.

Our plan was to have over 300 in attendance each night as we spoke about the the Lord's church. This meeting was a success and we had as many as 600 people there on one night. There were over 100 non-converted people present during the meeting. Several were converted and restored while many others were encouraged from the word of God. The four lessons that were taught are:

1. The Greatness of the Lord's Church - Javier Garcia

2. The Lord Only Established One Church - Domingo Cuadra

3. Why You Need To Be A Member Of The Lord's Church - Mark Hatfield

4. Why I Want To Go To Heaven - Ken Parrish

I hope you enjoy the following images and their descriptions:

This time of year everything in Nicaragua is green.
In the background you can see the active volcano
sending off smoke into the sky above us.

It is not uncommon when traveling in Nicaragua to see
several vendors selling their products each day.

Nicaragua is a beautiful country with fresh fruits and
vegetables every day. This is the way some of the people
in Nicaragua provide for the needs of their families.

In Leon is where you will find some of Nicaragua's finest
architecture. This church building stands out in a country
like Nicaragua because of its cost and size.

Among uncommon sights, here a pig is tied to a wall
eating out of a bowl like a dog. So was it the dog that
wallowed in the mire and the pig that returned to its own
vomit (Sorry for the preacher joke). I couldn't resist.

Due to our delayed stay in Leon we spent a few nights
in the San Cristobal Hotel. It is very dangerous to travel
at night on the major highway leading to Managua.

This is one of our community Bible studies.
We studied twice at this home, and then the
lady obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The crowds were very large each night as we
addressed four lessons about the Lord's church.

Two hundred New Testaments were purchased for the
meeting. Every visitor received a copy with two Bible
tracts inside for their personal study of the word of God.

Javier spoke the first night of the meeting and there
were over 300 people present. He was very enthusiastic

and preached boldly about the greatness of the Lord's church.

Others respond to the invitation of the Lord and
seek to be reconciled to Him.

Two other young ladies decided to be buried with
Christ in baptism. Praise God for the power and joy
of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Here there is much rejoicing as our new sister
is raised to walk in the newness of life.

Even so, another child of God is born and all of her
sins were washed away by the blood of Jesus.

Many other Bible studies were held in the various
cities that did not produce immediate fruit. We are
prayerful that much more good will come from the
work that was accomplished during this week.

The Bible studies also consisted of using a PowerPoint
by Ken Craig that is very effective in sharing the gospel.

Domingo preached about the fact that there is only
one church that our Lord established.

The people followed along in their Bibles and
studied carefully with each lesson preached.

Here two souls seek to be restored to faithful service to
the Lord. They had been away from the work of the Lord for
some time and wanted to have reconciliation with Him.

In this photo I am preaching the gospel at Fatima
This is one of the churches in the area of Leon.

Ken Parrish is preaching about why someone
should want to go to heaven.

After Ken and I had both delivered our message,
we waited on stage for those who would come
in obedience to the gospel.

The woman and the young girl on the right responded
to the invitation and others asked for prayers.

I had the privilege of baptizing these new souls
into Christ for the remission of sins.

What a joy to have the opportunity to share in the
conversion process of these new Christians.

On one night of the meeting we had so many in
attendance that the aisles were filled with chairs
and the people were standing and sitting outside
of the meeting house of the church in Fatima.

Here is a picture of the people seated and standing
outside of the meeting house to hear the preaching.

The center aisle was lined with chairs because of the
large numbers of those in attendance each night.

Others stood in the windows and main entrance to hear
the lessons that were preached during the meeting.

We also had the opportunity to visit and preach for
other area churches. In this picture we visited the
church in Alta Gracia. While this church is in the
city of Managua, we had never visited them before.

The above photo was taken at Campo Bruce. This
lesson was preached in the building where they
recently moved to have more room for growth.

Another congregation in Managua prepares for a service
where Ken would preach the gospel on the Lord's day.

Harvin is the faithful local evangelist for this church.
This congregation was once located elsewhere and
was called, "Ocho de Marzo". It is now the church
in Reparto Schick near Managua Nicaragua.

While I was going to speak in Reparto Schick I was setback
by a meal I had eaten the day before. I spent the day ill in
my hotel room in recovery mode. Domingo visited and gave
a lesson at a local church near Leon and another young man
was immersed in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Two more souls responded to the gospel of our Lord
Jesus and were added to the body of Christ.

While in Nicaragua we were able to visit several of the
local preachers. It is always great to find these men
faithfully serving the Lord in their local congregations.

In the process of visiting with area churches we also
learn about the needs of the saints. Here we read a letter
about a famine that had hit the churches in the north.

Spending time with Domingo's family is always a joy.
This family offers humble service to everyone that stays
with them on these trips to share the word of God.

While Domingo serves as our translator, his son is also
learning English so that he can also serve us in this way.

Here my wife and I are headed home on the airplane.

While we are exhausted we are very excited about
returning to our two boys and the church in Chillicothe.

Ken is seated with us on the return flight as we discuss
plans for a trip in April of 2008 (if the Lord wills). God has
truly opened a door to us in Nicaragua. Pray for the continual
efforts that are made to spread the gospel in Nicaragua.
